COMMERCIAL CREDIT UNDERWRITING WORKSHOP
Virtual Event | October 7 and 14, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This workshop is unique as it is entirely case-driven, using reality based examples; real businesses, real financial reports, real situations to evaluate. Attendees will work on cases in teams and share ideas and different ways to underwrite. Complex concepts will be illustrated with humor, games, and funny stories so as to provide an enjoyable learning experience. Participants will receive job aids to take back at the bank and use right away, including techniques that have really worked to increase loan production while enhancing the customer experience and value of the banking relationship. As a bonus, the workshop also provides a dedicated website with Excel-based templates and links to quickly check the economy

THE ART OF COMMERCIAL LENDING

This program introduces risk appetite, risk tolerance, risk culture and the risks assumed in the loan portfolio. Each type of business and industry has a unique mix of assets, liabilities, margins, asset utilization and financial leverage. Learn how the typical business operates with a focus on the operating, fixed asset, profit, life and cash cycles. A borrower’s success is largely a function of a well-defined value proposition, an effective business strategy grounded in a defensible source of competitive advantage and successful implementation of that strategy. Product, industry, market structure and position, stage in life cycle and barriers to entry must be considered when defining and monitoring business strategy. Skills, integrity and core competence are also explored including tools available to lenders to evaluate management and monitor management performance.
